BATTLEFIELD 3 Comes to Xbox 360 With Separate Texture DVD Pack

“These bullets look even better in 3-D!”

Its fun to shoot your best friends, or annoying family members, in their digital Battlefield 3 faces. It€™s even more fun to do it in full HD-feels-like-they€™re-in-front-of-you glory. Battlefield 3 will give you the ability to do this, launching October 25th with an extra DVD containing a texture pack. The pack will allow gamers to download extra textures straight to their 360 hard drives, letting them stream full on HD eye candy to their gaming experience. Think of it as the difference between the movie Avatar in IMAX 3-D, or Avatar on a portable DVD player. It matters. This is an approach EA already takes with PC and PS3 versions of the game, and it only made sense to include the 360 for the latest installment. It is, however, an optional feature that allows users without a hard drive the same modern warfare experience, only in slightly, less-shiny standard definition. Said executive producer Patrick Bach, "The thing with the 360 is that you need to be able to give consumers a game where you don't have to install it on a hard drive, because there are 360s without a hard drive. So we need to give you the option of installing it, rather than just demanding it. You could call it a 'standard-def' version for the 360 if you don't have a hard-drive.€ However you choose to play it, Battlefield 3 will be released October 25, and with over 47 Billion bullets fired in its Beta and a mere €˜couple million€™ copies already pre-ordered, this promises to be one of the most exciting games in recent memory, assuming the hunt for Makarov doesn€™t drown it out. . .
