Call of Duty: Ghosts - 10 Reasons Next-Gen Will Save The Franchise

9. They Will Be Able To Take Risks

The finer point of this argument is that it will allow Infinity Ward to take some gambles with the franchise; there's no worry to concede to the whim of every player and investor, and so it will be fertile ground for them to try out some new ideas they might have had floating around for the last few years but had rejected on the grounds that they would uproot the core gameplay too much. While we shouldn't expect any sort of big shake-up if the game does, in fact, launch for current-gen consoles as well, another persistent rumour is that two versions of the game will end up shipping - a "bare bones" version for current-gen, and then a premium take for the more sophisticated next-gen. Though this will divide the CoD community no doubt, if it means that Infinity Ward can try out some new ideas on the next-gen without any pressure, than it is definitely something we should be looking forward to.
