It's that time of year again. The time of year where everyone who has sworn off Call of Duty in the past; burned one too many times by formulaic game design and insidious business practices, starts to admit to themselves that, "actually, this year's instalment looks pretty good!". The time of year when hope sets in that this Call of Duty could be the one to turn the entire ship around, reigniting the love they had for the series all those years ago.

Though it's been said many, many times before, 2019's soft reboot of Modern Warfare does look like it has the potential to actually realise those same hopes and dreams. The first multiplayer reveal dove head-first into developer Infinity Ward's new take on the classic online suite, showing off the power of the new engine the team have been crafting for well over three years now.

All in all, despite bearing the Modern Warfare name, the latest entry in the franchise has made some radical changes to multiplayer across the board, doubling down on the studio's desire to deliver the grittiest, most realistic Call of Duty yet.
