As is true of practically every Call of Duty game of the last decade, WW2 is wildly inconsistent as far as its visuals are concerned. The campaign, for instance, benefits from fantastic facial animations during cut-scenes, and the set-pieces certainly look terrific, but those playing on OG PS4 or Xbox One consoles will likely encounter plenty of stutter at checkpoints and as the next scripted sequence is loaded in.

The multiplayer meanwhile looks decidedly more bland, with texture detail taking a huge hit in the interest of performance. Sure, it's great that online play isn't saddled with the same stuttering issues and all, but it's a shame the visuals have to look so damn underwhelming. This is especially disappointing compared to its easiest stylistic point of comparison, Battlefield 1, which manages to look better while handling a much higher player load.

Granted, few go to CoD for state-of-the-art visuals, but true to form, it's nevertheless totally all over the place here.
