Sometimes you're in the midst of great things: Thwarting an evil megalomaniac bent on world conquest, halting a long-haired mercenary from ending all human life on the planet. Perhaps you're a ninja just trying not to die... again.

Perhaps you're on a special operations mission to -- oh, hold on, I gotta pee. I'll finish the intro in a minute, just sit tight, thanks.

So where was I? Oh right, sometimes you're in the middle of things and just need a quick break.

That's where the pause button comes in handy. Smack the button and go do what you need to do, or maybe its the only way to access your inventory, or exit the game, or invert your vertical axis (don't @ me).
