Rumors have been floating around for a while now that Darksiders II would be delayed from its already announced release date of June 26th. Most of the rumors stemmed from the fact that THQ has been in some major financial trouble and there have been some major layoffs at the company so many people assumed it would affect the release date of the game.

Today THQ officially announced Darksiders II would be pushed back until August of 2012, so it is not a huge delay only a couple of months. As of right now there is no official specific date for the game to be released on, THQ only gave a vague August 2012 for now.

The reason for the delay was cited as:

“polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders 2 meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting.”

Vigil the developers of the game denied that the layoffs or the Wii U version of the game had anything to do with the delay. I have to say that Darksiders II has not gotten nearly the same amount of press as the first game did, which is generally something to be worried about.

In this industry the more you hide about a game the more there is wrong with it; I am not saying Darksiders II is going to be a bad game, just that it is strange it has gotten so little press and previews compared to the original which most people loved.
