E3 2018: Predicting Release Dates For The Biggest Games

Bethesda's highly-anticipated sci-fi RPG has clearly been in the works for a long, long time. Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media first filed a trademark application for the game back in 2013, and at E3 this year Todd Howard told fans, "Starfield is a game that we have spent years thinking about and working on."

Howard further confirmed the game to be "in production", that there's currently a playable build of it and it's further along in development than The Elder Scrolls VI.

The fact he also referred to Starfield as "next gen" suggests it won't be releasing until both the new Xbox and PlayStation systems are om the market, which sensibly won't be until at least early 2020.

Prediction: November 10, 2020. This would give the new consoles a few months to breathe, and we know that Bethesda loves November release dates for their tentpole titles. The fact we didn't see any gameplay footage at E3 makes it clear this is still a way off.
