EA: CALL OF DUTY Dead in 3 Years

Not only are fans of Call of Duty and Battlefield 3 going at it as to which game will be better, the executives at Activision and EA are exchanging words over the two games.

Call of Duty and Battlefield 3 going at it as to which game will be better, the executives at Activision and EA are exchanging words over the two games. Eric Hirshberg publishing boss at Activision last week stated that all this mudslinging is bad for the industry after EA claimed that they want the Call of Duty series to "rot from the core". EA has now gone at Activision again this time Jeff Brown EA's corporate communications chief stated:

"Welcome to the big leagues Eric, I know you're new in the job but someone should have told you this is a competitive industry. You've got every reason to be nervous. Last year Activision had a 90% share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you'll be out of the category in 2-3 years. If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."
Contrary to what Eric Hirshberg said about this being bad for the industry, I love this trash talking between two huge corporations it's hilarious and doesn't hurt the business in any conceivable way. However, it is the definition of irony that a EA guy like Jeff Brown is talking crap about the number one military shooter in the world; when last year they were laughed out of the competition when they released a new Medal of Honor game. This should be fun to watch as it comes closer and closer to release time for these games. Do you find this fighting back and forth between Activision as hilarious as I do, or do you think EA is just being petty like some people have suggested?
