EA has officially confirmed Dead Space 3 is in development and will be shown off during their E3 press conference next week. Over the past few days there have been numerous leaks and screens from the game that have taken some of the steam off this announcement, but it is still nice to finally have EA make it official.
EA’s official statement on Dead Space 3:
“We’re excited to unveil Dead Space 3 to the world at the EA press conference next week,”
The leaked screens that have been released demonstrate what most people believe will be the new main gameplay mechanic co-op. The co-op is rumored to be drop in drop out, but it is not known at this time if the entire main story line will be playable with co-op. In addition, it is rumored that much of the game will take place on a ice planet.
Dead Space 3 has actually been one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry, as EA actually mentioned the game last year during a financial “call”. No other information has been made official by EA at this point, but we will only have to wait until Monday when EA will show the game off during its’ press conference.
Dead Space 2 was released last year to very high review scores and basically universal praise (except for the multiplayer, which was a love it or hate it feature). It will be interesting to see if the franchise can keep the momentum going, I just hope that the franchise can stay focused on great single player experiences and not get bogged down with trying to force multiplayer down out throats.
