EA Forces FORZA 4 to Remove Porsche from Game

Rights holders EA now focusing on promoting their own Shift racing driving series and Need for Speed, so they will not allow competing companies to use Porsche cars in the future.

Forza 4 because EA who holds the rights for depictions of Porsche cars in video games has blocked Turn 10 from using them. Generally EA had allowed for negotiations with rival companies so they would be able to use Porsche cars in their games. However, with EA now focusing on promoting their own Shift racing driving series and Need for Speed, they will most likely not allow competing companies to use Porsche cars in the future. Turn 10's creative director Dan Greenawalt was pretty pissed off:

"This kills me...Since the beginning of the Forza franchise, the Porsche license has been available only through a sub-licensing deal with EA. In Forza 3, we were able to feature more than 35 different Porsche models by offering to collaborate with EA. For Forza 4, we were looking forward to adding even more Porsche cars. In the end, however, EA couldn't see their way towards collaborating again. We've asked our contacts at EA to reconsider their position frequently and regularly over the last 18 months. We also reached out to various influential people in gaming to lobby on our behalf, and on your behalf, but that was to no avail."
He later went on to talk about how Forza has the exclusive rights to Ferrari cars; but as a company can't justify not letting other competing companies using them because it hurts the "racing ecosystem". Does this news detract you from wanting to buy Forza 4 or are you going to buy the game regardless of the missing Porsche cars? Release Date: US October 11, EU October 14
