Eurogamer Expo: 10 Best Games

Eurogamer is fast becoming one of the most popular gaming exhibitions for fans and media alike. What started as a small show as part of the London Games Festival in 2008, Eurogamer has grown rapidly in the last 4 years. This year, 50,000 gamers descended on Earl's Court for 4 full days of gaming nirvana and with upcoming monster titles such as Halo 4, Black Ops 2 and Tomb Raider playable for the first time, it's no wonder Eurogamer is garnering a reputation as one of the best gaming events in the calender year. Oh, and the possibility of playing a little white box called the Wii U also helped proceedings. It's an event run by fans for the fans and its shows, with excellent access to not only every title coming between now and Christmas, but developer sessions, Q&As and industry guidance talks. Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima and Fable creator Peter Molyneux were just two of the biggest names that attended to talk about their future plans, with the latter being his usual intriguing self. There was tonnes of stuff to see and do and I was lucky enough to head over as part of the press to sample a little bit of everything. Here are the top ten games I played at Eurogamer Expo 2012

10. The Cave

Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer might be best remembered for creating the much loved classic, The Secret Of Monkey Island but now they have a new game coming out just as unique and interesting. I hadn't even heard of The Cave before my journey to London but it was the sleeper hit of Eurogamer for me. I was just after playing a hectic game of the classic Goldeneye on N64 in the retro zone and I noticed a empty chair with a platforming game onscreen. I played it for about 15 minutes and it really is brilliant. It's like a mix between Lego Batman and Limbo in a way, meaning as in it's level design and style. Maybe it was just that I was craving a change of pace from the frantic games I had been playing all day but The Cave is a great little game in its own right. My friend joined me for some 2 player co-op and then another player joined us for 3 player mayhem! The puzzles were cool and I can't wait to download it and play the later levels as I'm sure they will get extremely tricky. As you will see, this pipped some seriously good games to number 10 on the list so I was genuinely impressed with it. It was a big hit with gamers too.
