9. More Items
Here's something we are guaranteed in Fallout 4: More items. What we need though, is more variety. A game set after 2281 (Fallout: NV) should easily have real-life spec. weapons such as the Barrett .50cal or any long-range rifle which uses a large caliber round. Fallout has many close to mid-range weapons,
approximately 237 in Fallout NV, compared to the limited number of long-range rifles (10 in Fallout NV, 4 of which are DLC attainable only). Though, I'm not discrediting the close range weapons- I even keep a Paladin Toaster in my pack at all times. I just believe the spread could be more even; when you consider the fact that 87 of the total 247 weapons are melee or unarmed, it leaves the selection very limited when it comes to something at a long range. The game, in my eyes, could benefit from the removal and/or substitution of low damage melee weapons for another two or three long range rifles. There will always be people out there who will disagree or believe the set they have works perfectly for them, but that is no reason to not try and rework some of the more pointless weapons. I mean, seriously, who runs around the Wasteland with a rolling pin in hand? While we're on the subject of items, I'd also appreciate a few more viable options for non-faction armor sets, as the majority of the faction armor is 1) light and faction related, but strong, 2) light, neutral and weak or 3) heavy, neutral and strong. Most of the time, the burden of heavy armor isn't worth the loss of movement. The producers may have done it this with the idea of a more challenging game, and I'm not asking them to just give it out in the starting sequence, but rather to have the chance to earn or find it.
