Fallout 4 Settlements: 14 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

8. Want More Money? Build Stores

One of the problems that comes with making the shooting gameplay in Fallout 4 so addictive, is a sudden realisation the wasteland isn't built for you to get your gun off every five minutes. Ammo is fairly pricey, and unless you want to craft a gun that takes something like .38 rounds (the most common ammo type across the most northern areas), you're going to need more caps - and lots of them. As such, you're better suited to building a handful of stores (located in 'Structures' and then 'Stores'), as they'll accumulate funds while you're away. You'll need a base amount of 300 or 600 coins to establish the first and second 'tier' of shop, to which you then need to assign a settler to look after it for you. Also take note: Don't have as many shops as you do settlers controlling them. Remember, you need people left over to visit the stores in the first place, and if they're all manning different ones, nothing can be bought or sold.
