Fallout 4: What To Expect

Missions

In Washington DC you were reunited with Liam Neeson (your Dad) and asked to make the ultimate sacrifice €“ until the DLC was released €“ in order to provide the area with purified water. Meanwhile, in Vegas, you had the power to choose. Would you support the NCR or the malevolent Legion? Maybe help Mr House or even attempt to form your own republic? Would you get the other smaller factions on your side or go it alone? The main storyline for NV was the control of the dam. You were inundated with options and different ways to play the game. In terms of the side quests there were many more than in F3 €“ easily over 50 in total. They ranged from helping ghouls build a rocket to getting the NV branch of the Brotherhood of Steel back on their feet. There was a great range of missions on offer that allowed you to use your range of abilities. On the other hand F3 had a much more linear storyline with few options. The main quests were perhaps more memorable €“ fighting the giant Super Mutant minutes after your first encounter with the BoS comes to mind €“ but it felt quite restricted. There was about 15 side quests €“ much less than in the follow-up €“ but they were longer and more open. The side missions in NV were very restrictive €“ there was really only one way going about them €“ but in F3 there were more choices available to you depending on your karma and the skills which you possessed. The perfect blend would be to have the amount of missions that were on offer in New Vegas but with the freedom that F3 permitted. In terms of the main quest, as long as it has a good story, a variety of options and, most importantly, the ability to play on after the finale, everyone should be pleased. The main story has never been the best part about the Fallout experience.
