Far Cry 4: 5 Amazing Things We Saw At E3

5. It's Set In The Himalayas

This time the location shifts from the desert islands and jungles of the previous three games to the mountainous (and totally made up) setting of Kyrat, a sort of mash-up of Himalayan nations like Nepal and Bhutan. Tapping into the history of conflict in these landlocked South Asian countries, the plot of Far Cry 4 sees the player character returning to his birthplace of Kyrat to scatter his mother's ashes, only to - of course! - get caught up in a bloody civil war. Bloody as in annoying, and also because there's lots of blood. The Himalayan setting looks to be giving the game a whole new dimension to the other entries in the series, since there's always the threat that you could die not just from wildlife, crazy guerilla soldiers or explosives but also from falling off the side of a ruddy cliff. Well, there would be that threat if the game didn't introduce wingsuits (those goofy outfits that make you look like a flying squirrel) and parachutes that give some truly gorgeous aerial views of the Kyrat landscape. A nice little respite before you start shooting people again.
