Far Cry 5 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

9. No More Non-Medikit Healing Animations

Unfortunately, one of the Far Cry series' most unique aspects, the healing animations, are long gone.

Far Cry 5 opts to go for the much more generic automatic health recovery system that almost every other game uses. Now, instead of having to manually manage your health and watch as your character performs some pretty sick home remedies, all you have to do is sit behind a crate and suck your thumb.

Although the previous games did treat healing animations as a last resort to using medkits and syringes, they were always the most exciting thing to do and it was great to know that no matter what, you always had a way to get back into the action as quickly as possible.

In a similar vein to how hunting is handled in Far Cry 5, removing the healing animations from the game removes a large part of what makes the series so unique. Hiding just isn't the same.
