EA Sports have today confirmed that UK gamers will learn the identities of the new cover stars for this year’s FIFA 13 this Monday, as they unveil just who will be lining up on the cover of the game alongside the already revealed Lionel Messi.
Crucially EA Sports have been careful to call the chosen cover stars their “new signings” who will be up to the pedigree to follow in the footsteps of past cover-stars. So you’d suspect that means that Wayne Rooney won’t feature, and neither will least year’s star Jack Wilshere, who was probably unfit when it came to the photoshoot anyway…
But who does that leave us with? Speculation elsewhere has already pin-pointed Robin Van Persie as a likely candidate, and the spikey hair and high cheek bones of the figure on the left on the blacked out cover below might well point to that. And the fella on the left bears a fair resemblance to Yaya Toure, who might be chosen thanks to his role in Man City’s title victory, though there’s certainly an argument that it could be Papiss Cisse, based on the shape of his shoulders…
Perhaps I’m just pulling at straws here… Personally I’d quite like to see Shola Ameobi included, but I’d imagine I’ll be in the minority. Perhaps with brother Sammy Ameobi flanking him. Now there’s an idea.
So, which football stars will grace FIFA 13′s cover? Well, we’re all set to find out this coming Monday, as EA Sports takes to YouTube and Facebook on Monday at 6pm UK time to reveal the stars chosen to stand alongside Lionel Messi. Following the grand unveiling, both players will be chatting live and there’ll even be an opportunity for viewers to pose their questions via twitter by using the #FIFA13UKCOVER hashtag.
You’ll be able to follow the grand unveil here.
FIFA 13 is set for release on the 28th of September. Buy your copy here.

It also looks like Aguero and Benzema
It’s clearly:
Van Persie (left) – Man Utd
Messi (centre) – Barca
Podolski (right) – Arsenal
RVP and Podolski representing Man Utd and Arsenal in the absence of previous cover stars, Rooney and Wilshere.
It says they are live tomrrow at 6pm answering questions??? Van Persie has a game tomorrow at 7:45? Couldnt be him
considering the big deal with Man City, the guy on the left could well be aguero
Its RVP for Manu and Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain for Arsenal
I doubt the player on the right will not be an Arsenal player, if the player on the left is RVP because the agreement would have been arranged whilst he was an Arsenal player therefore surely they wouldn’t have 2 Arsenal players (although that changed a few days ago). I think that the player on the left is van Der Vaart, on the right I have many ideas.
It’s probably Oxlade Chamberlain, I would be very surprised if the UK cover didn’t have an Englishman on it.
Nasri/Oxlade-Chamberlain
Been revealed now as Hart and Chamberlain, but the silhouette on the left is RVP I’m sure. I reckon EA dropped him due to the Man U speculation and subsequent (meaning the prepared photos of him in an Arsenal kit were out of date)
