FIFA 16: 7 Things It Needs To Learn From NBA 2K

Ideas the FIFA franchise would do well to "borrow" from 2K Sports.

The FIFA and NBA 2K franchises are unquestionably two of the biggest gaming series in the world, leaving their respective competitors in the dust. Pro Evolution Soccer, once the champion of the console footballing world, now seems like a cheap arcade game in comparison to FIFA's realism and authenticity. EA's own NBA Live series has similarly fallen away, leaving 2K Sports the undisputed kings of the virtual court. However, neither franchise is without its flaws. On the surface, FIFA seems to improve by greater strides with every instalment - especially in terms of gameplay. The "feel" of FIFA 15 is vastly different to even its most recent predecessors, but a strong argument can be made to suggest that 2K has been the consistently better game for many years now. It's hard to escape the feeling that more effort is put into developing an NBA 2K game. While FIFA unquestionably continues to improve, it could learn a thing or two from its basketballing rivals in terms of depth and refinement. FIFA is clearly the more successful franchise, owing much to the global popularity of its sport, but that doesn't necessarily make it the superior game. Here are the seven biggest lessons FIFA could be taught by the NBA 2K series.
