FIFA 18: Every Chelsea Player's Ratings

Yes, including Diego Costa...

FIFA 18 Chelsea
EA Sports

A quick look at the Premier League table will already tell you that Chelsea have a job on their hands to retain the title. Antonio Conte's troops have won 3 of their opening 5 games, but there are threatening sounds coming from both halves of Manchester this season. Man Utd and City sit 3 points above Chelsea in the table already, and both look in fine form.

Fire up FIFA 18 and you can expect to hear Martin Tyler and Alan Smith prattle on about the unstoppable Stamford Bridge outfit in season 2016-2017. That will be tempered a little by the Mancunian sides in this year's game though, because Utd's player ratings look pretty special, especially in midfield and up front.

What does this mean for Chelsea then? The Blues have strengthened in attack by bringing in Álvaro Morata, and midfield has been bolstered by the additions of Tiémoué Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater. Will that be enough to retain top dog status in England?

Don't forget about Diego Costa either...

6. Goalkeepers

FIFA 18 Courtois
EA Sports

Thibaut Courtois: 89

Willy Caballero: 79

Eduardo Carvalho: 75

Matej Delač: 69

Let's face it, if you pick Chelsea and don't put Thibaut Courtois in goal then you need your head checked. The big Belgian is the 19th best player in FIFA 18 overall according to EA's own Top 100, and his 89 rating is 10 points better than Chelsea's next goalkeeping option. Still, ex-City stickman Willy Caballero is a decent shout for cup games with his 79 score.

Aside from that, there's not much to look at here. Punt 75-rated Eduardo Carvalho immediately, because you won't be using him very often. At 34, there's not much room for improvement either. 25-year old Matej Delač is a better option if you're interested in developing somebody long term, but that seems like wasted time and effort considering better and younger keepers are available elsewhere.

Delač's 69 rating gives him a chance though, and there's no shame in having an older goalie between the posts. That would be the case with the Bosnian, because it'd likely take a concerted effort to turn him into anything special.

Stick with Thibaut.
