FIFA 19: 7 Changes That Will Make It Brilliant

New commentary, new tactics and even more licenses.

FIFA 19 Champions League
EA Sports/UEFA

Sift through the typically chirpy, manufactured nature of EA's FIFA 19 reveal at E3 and there were enough pearls of wisdom to fan the flames of excitement before the game's 28 September release.

Naturally, the Champions League (and, to a lesser extent, the Europa League) licensing coup is playing a major role in EA's marketing already. It should: This is the end of an agonising decade for FIFA fans, and it's something EA can use to lord over Konami's PES series, as finally, UEFA's big-money competition is coming to EA's big-money footy franchise.

It's a marriage made in heaven, and it's not the only thing to get excited about.

Key gameplay changes should ensure that FIFA plays a much smoother, more realistic game this year. Will that rid the series of those bothersome scripting rumours and stop the CPU from scoring controller-smashing last-minute equalisers? Probably not, but there's enough noise coming out of EA's camp about wish list items like tactical importance, tackling and even commentary to get people talking.

Start getting hyped...
