FIFA 19 Early Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Want To See

3. Less Scripting During Matches

In EA's world, every cup final is a dramatic affair that has fans glued to the screen by never-ending counter attacks, agonising misses and teams who have been playing crap suddenly becoming Brazil from 1970. Yes, it's exciting, but it's not realistic. Sometimes, a final ends with one team destroying the other and there are no last-minute equalisers.

The developers can claim all they like that such scripting doesn't exist, because actually playing FIFA says otherwise. PES 2018 takes a much more sound and realistic approach, and it's one EA need to learn from. If a team are playing rotten, they're unlikely to become demons all of a sudden just because the clock is ticking down. That happens regularly in FIFA.

Finding the balance between the frankly rubbish level of football visible in lower leagues and the Champions League level thrills EA wish to present must be hard. It's a change that must be made in order to make FIFA 19 feel more like real football and less like a Hollywood movie though.
