Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns: 6 Things We Learned From The Demo

Lucky for gamers, whether you’re on the fence or already have your pre-order receipt in hand, a demo has been released, giving us some insight on what's in store.

The name Final Fantasy is often synonymous with buzzwords such as €œepic€ and €œoutstanding€, while the series of games that make up Final Fantasy XIII have usually been associated with €œmixed bag€ and €œconvoluted€. Final Fantasy 13 itself was a game with both a horrible story and gameplay while XIII-2 improved on things significantly, despite making a further mockery of the plot. Progress is progress though, and when you take into account that Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns is being paraded as a trilogy-capper to one of the greatest modern franchises in existence, it€™s hard not to just cave and express a little interest in what Square-Enix is selling. After all, we€™ve probably spent 100+ hours in this universe across two games, so why not take one final spin for some closure? Lucky for gamers, whether you€™re on the fence or already have your pre-order receipt in hand, a demo has been released over both Playstation Network & Xbox Live for the game, giving us some insight on what we€™re in store for. Will Lightning Returns be another step in the right direction, or a mess that squanders the minute of goodwill XIII-2 made up?
