Football Manager 2014: 13 Ludicrous Ratings SI Need To Fix

13. The Back Room Set-Up/Star Ratings

Messi The decision to bring in a star rating system based on the back room staff's opinion on the value of squad members and potential signings on paper was a good one. It simplified the process of evaluating potential signings and squad changes for the less engaged player, and added an extra element to the back-room staff's role. Sadly, the system was broken, or at least under-cooked, and the ratings were often baffling or contradictory, superseding your own evaulation of players based on the scouting system's statistics with a more limited, and often far less helpful general rating. Form never seemed to count, nor did any progression in rating over the years, so the stars were little more than pretty frills. What Are The Chances? The star rating system was a new, and for some unwelcome addition to the overall rating system, and as with any under-developed feature, it's unlikely SI are going to concede defeat after just one year, and without a chance to evolve it. Hopefully, that means more care and attention goes into the system as a reactive one, with player progress charted, as well as importance to your selected team.
