Get The Witcher 2 FREE On Xbox One For A Limited Time

Geralt's second adventure is now backwards-compatible, and free to all.

If you've been following the gaming news over the past 24 hours, then you'll have read about the mystery surrounding The Witcher 2 becoming available for free on the Xbox 360 Marketplace, with some people attributing it to being one big, silly misunderstanding. Well, now we have confirmation that it in fact is entirely intentional, as CD Projekt RED have just announced that The Witcher 2 now works via backwards compatibility for the Xbox One, and that you can pick it up completely free from today right through to 5th February (12 am UTC). Not that it needs introducing, but The Witcher 2 is one of the best RPGs of recent years (arguably only supplanted by its successor), charting Geralt's quest to clear his name after he became framed for murdering the king of Temeria. As well as offering tough, timing-based combat mechanics and a great story, it's also one of the best-looking games of the last console generation, pushing the Xbox 360 to its very limit. It won't have any trouble fitting in with your Xbox One games collection, that's for certain. This short-time deal is also further proof that CD Projekt RED are one of the best developers out there. They offered a ton of free post-launch DLC for The Witcher 3 and always insisted that devs should support and update their games with free content well after launch. CDPR we salute you! Now, go grab this freebie immediately...
