Gloriously Gore-Soaked Doom 4 Campaign Trailer Drops

Release date also confirmed for May 13th, 2016.

Getting a bit tired of Call of Duty and Battlefield's militaristic campaigns and "hoo-ra!" dialogue? Fancy a return to the old-school arena shooters of yore like Unreal Tournament and Quake? Good, because so do Bethesda and iD Software, as the new trailer for Doom 4 is a blood and entrail-flinging foray into pure unbridled carnage. Sound ridiculous? Just watch this... https://youtu.be/ybo30QlSk64 As 2014's soft reboot of Wolfenstein proved, the nostalgic approach to shooting mechanics and general feel is truly timeless, and whilst that game wasn't an 'arena-shooter' per se, its sensibilities felt completely different to other established shooters on the market. For Doom's new trailer, iD are building on the very positive footage shown across the last few years. Chainsaw fatality finishers are still in, as are copious amounts of boots meeting faces - it even appears as though enemies finishing you off will have their own moves to do so in style. Don't expect a whole lot of story and instead just go in with a guns-blazing attitude, and you'll have one hell of a time. Doom 4 is now penciled in for a May 13th release, and personally I can't wait for the next instalment in one of the most prolific first-person shooters of all time. Are you ready for more Doom? Let us know in the comments if military shooter-fatigue has set in, and which other shooters you think will dominate 2016!
