Hitman Beta: 4 Things It Gets Right (And 6 That Really Suck)

9. Really Sucks - It's Buggy.As.Hell (Even For A Beta)

Yes yes, it's a beta, but man... we're mere weeks away from the release of the full version, which begs some very momentous (and potentially crippling questions), such as: If this build we got is from months ago, why would you release it as the thing that's supposed to 'reward' those who pre-ordered? A beta is definitely used for testing, yes, but this had closed access, and was only seen by those who put down the provisional cash to secure their copy. If the build is new, that's worrying as hell considering the release of Hitman's first episode is March 11th. How many bugs and general polish fixes can IO apply in the time between now and then? Chances are, sadly, not as many as you'd like. Back to the overall performance, and it's clear this build will be a disaster if the retail version is anything close. Personally, I had the entire thing crash, piece by piece - first the sound started looping, then framerate slowed to single digits and finally it kicked me back to the PS4's XMB. Bodies ragdoll uncontrollably, there's a random hat-like object simply floating outside the back of the ship in the first level, NPC objects don't fit in their hands - across the board it's a level of bugginess the older Hitman games showed every now and then, but was on display at every turn here.
