The plotline of Horizon: Zero Dawn was as much about Elizabet Sobeck as it was about Aloy. Sobeck was a scientist and architect of mankind's plan to survive the apocalypse that created the game's setting. The game's ending suggests Sobeck wandered the game's environments before succumbing to robot-related Armageddon, and that she sowed the land with fragments of pre-catastrophe culture as she went.

More of Elizabet's trail through her dying world could illuminate the history of the game's setting and Elizabet's own experiences as she wanders, waiting for the end to come.

In particular, the original's ending suggested Elizabet was the one who planted the metal flower artefacts with their Easter eggs of poetry fragments. They formed some of the most fascinating and surprisingly moving moments of the game. Her trail could feature more pieces of mankind's lost culture, hidden in the hard-to-reach corners of the Frozen Wilds for Aloy to find.
