Identifying A Gaming Fanboy

Fanboy; A Fanboy is an individual who is extremely biased and subjective in their opinion within particular medium or given subject. Known for roundabout logic, arguing with a Fanboy is fruitless as the disagreement will end in some nonsensical reply which negates anything said before on their part.

- Tom James Hunt, 2013

Fanboys are individuals who believe that there isn€™t a single iota wrong with their cherished franchise and will defend their favourite game to the death, hopefully. Now, there isn€™t anything wrong with liking a game, or even classing it as your favourite. The issue is when you try to convince yourself that all the problems are nothing more than €˜artistic choices€™ on the developer€™s part and it is a perfect experience. I have no idea why people feel admitting faults in their favourite titles means the game as a whole is rubbish, because there€™s no such thing as a perfect game. But I guess if you start pointing out problems you won€™t be invited to the weekly Mass Effect role play night. Each Fanboy from each main form of gaming: console and PC gaming are very different creatures, and must be treated as such. So here is: Tom€™s Survival Guide to Identifying a Fanboy.

The PC Fanboy

world of warcraft gamer In my eyes, PC gamers the worst offenders for this whole fan war malarkey seeing as for some reason or another, they believe themselves to be superior beings flowing over everyone in a cloud of the own self-satisfaction. They don€™t think a game is worth its weight in gold if it doesn€™t have thirteen bloody active keys and twenty in reserve. These individuals are the pinnacle of what others, including myself, would call the original Fanboy. Known for playing more MMO€™s than any other party, with League of Legends beating World of Warcraft in an AlienWare€™s July 23rd 2012 study; they clock the most hours spent on a single game. They also detest FPS€™s because the popularly of the genre has besmirched the only FPS that€™s worthy to be played; which, of course is Counter Strike. In an argument with the PC Fanboy; they will complain that a consoles controller isn€™t personal enough and having only eight (not including the D-Pad,) buttons controls like arse. They also criticise the graphics because their high end PC have God like capability€™s which beams ecstasy into the pleasure centre of your brain. Lastly, they don€™t understand lag or a loss of connection as they will have a better connection than a father and son.

Thomas James Hunt is a British Video Game Critic who is a rather unpleasant character in the journalism world. So brace yourself for some nasty behaviour in the form of articles.
