Infamous: Second Son - 7 Reasons It's Sadly Not A System Seller

The first major triple-A title out the gate for the PS4, but you might be better off holding onto your cash for now.

inFAMOUS Second Son had a lot of promise to be something truly special when it was first announced at the Playstation 4 reveal event in early 2013. Sucker Punch€™s super-powered series has in the past never seemed to receive the attention that many of us here at WhatCulture feel it truly deserves. But with Second Son, heads were starting to turn and admire a game that was looking truly next gen (at least from a visual standpoint). While the previous inFAMOUS games focused on the electrically charged Cole McGrath, this new game seemed like a perfect entry point for those who don€™t know their ray sphere€™s from their blast shards. With a new hero and brand new smoke-based powers to boot, many were excited to jump into the adventures of new hero Delsin Rowe, portrayed by Troy Baker. Sony also has a lot riding on this game as it€™s the first major triple-A PS4 game since the launch window outside of the is-it-a-demo-or-not Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Now with a huge gap between other blockbuster first party titles such as Uncharted and The Order: 1886 we€™re not entirely sure inFAMOUS Second Son has been able to live up to its gloriously high potential. It€™s just generally turned out a little bit underwhelming and dare we say, disappointing. Maybe we€™d all been hyped up too much through all of the stunning gameplay videos, but beyond how strikingly beautiful the next gen visuals look; this sadly really isn€™t the system seller that Sony and Sucker Punch were undoubtedly hoping it would be. Gameplay-wise the franchise has barely evolved from the first game with the only real key additions being the way in which players can now stunningly traverse the environment at the speed of light - which to be fair is a breath-taking experience that never seems to get old. Nonetheless here are seven reasons we believe that inFAMOUS Second Son is sadly not the system seller we had all hoped it would be.
