Injustice 2: 15 Guest Characters NetherRealm Must Include

Spawn is good and all, but we can do better...

Mortal kombat guest characters
NetherRealm

NetherRealm studio head-honcho Ed Boon was back tantalising Twitter last week with a duo of his famous fan polls, asking followers two questions: What Mortal Kombat characters should guest star in Injustice 2, and what non-MK characters should do so as well?

Voting in the tens of thousands, fans made no qualms in electing Spawn the proverbial king of this particular poll. For those uniquely enamoured with Todd McFarlane's emblem of '90s iconography, Boon's teasing can only be described as encouraging. But this got me thinking, what other 'guest' characters would make awesome additions to NetherRealm's OTT rendition of the DC Universe?

Mortal Kombat has certainly been no stranger to pulling in various heroes and villains from the depths of contemporary pop-culture to pad out its rosters; the latest, MK X, had both Jason and Leatherface don the spotlight to accompany the usual brutality of the series with a cinematic spin, on top of appearances from the Alien and Predator, respectively.

Since Injustice is just, you know, a tad less violent, it's unlikely that any of these R-rated warriors will be getting a slot on the roster. There are, however, tonnes of potential characters to include that would fit right into the superhero motif, be they from film, TV, comic books, or otherwise.

What in particular should NetherRealm be looking at?

15. Buffy Summers

Buffy vampire slayer

One of the other options on Boon's poll, Sarah Michelle Gellar's eponymous teenage vampire slayer would feel right at home in any Injustice sequel, taking the ass-kicking slayer motif to perhaps its most iconic level since Wesley Snipes' Blade graced our screens in 1998.

Buffy's fighting style would obviously be acrobatic, more-so than most other characters in the Injustice roster. It wouldn't be particularly difficult to write her into the DC Universe either, seeing as how vampires have been a staple of the comic book lore for decades now.

Bring Sarah Michelle Gellar back for the role, and you could even have the recipe for the best guest character yet.
