Injustice 2 Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs

1. Microtransactions

Unsurprisingly, the game includes microtransactions by way of source crystals, an in-game currency which can be used to purchase cosmetic items, and for the most part, are fairly unobtrusive as far as most of these models go.

In the UK, 150,000 source crystals will cost a whopping £39.99 (the cost of the retail game), and though the crystals can be obtained simply by playing, you'd be doing well to score 1,000 source crystals per hour of play, so the time-saving incentive is really quite blatant.

Also, once you've leveled one fighter up to level 20, you can use the crystals to insta-level other fighters up to 20 too, at the cost of 10,000 crystals a pop. Though it doesn't intrude overtly on the core gameplay loop, it's still an eye-rolling addition to the game, if totally expected at this point.

Thankfully these are the only issues, though, and so here's everything the game gets totally right...
