Injustice 3: Things It Must Learn From Mortal Kombat 11

6. A More Offbeat Story

If there's one thing that Injustice unequivocally does better than Mortal Kombat, it's story. And so it may sound odd that we think the DC fighting game can learn anything from its older brother, but there is method to the madness.

You see, the story of Injustice centred around a Superman gone bad, all thanks to The Joker. The sequel continued that plot, while introducing Brainiac as the primary villian.

However, the second game has two endings depending on which path the player chooses, and that makes it a little tricky to continue the story at all.

Of course, NetherRealm could simply create two separate cut-scenes at the start of Injustice 3 that cater to the two previous endings, then funnel into the one storyline.

Perhaps the best path forward would be a brand new story, one that takes the series in a fresh direction. Mortal Kombat 11's story aimed to fix the confusing continuity of the series, and if DC knows anything, it's confusing continuity.

NetherRealm could introduce some more outlandish elements like Mr. Mxyzptlk, The Monitor, or even Lucifer Morningstar himself. Any of these characters could take the story down some interesting paths and tie those two endings together.
