Tiny Wings is an arcade style, side scroller, adventure game by, the developer Andreas Illiger and no, there is no sign of a catapult or pesky green pigs anywhere. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store now. The main objective of the game is to get as far as you can before the scary night sets in. But as the title suggests you have tiny wings so you're incapable of flying any distance at all. So as I have already hinted at, the 'level' is actually a day, but to increase the length of a day you have to score big points either by collecting the coins by sliding up and down the hills on your cute little feathery belly or by getting big air and touching the face of God! (the clouds). One little thing I've noticed though is that every few hours the order of the islands change, which is a nice automatic feature that keeps things fresh. There is also a small icon in the bottom left that shows you the time of day, also the sun begins to set in the background. The controls are very straight forward, as it says in the official description. 'One button, or rather one touch', you simple touch the screen with one finger to gain momentum going downhill, but don't hold on for too long otherwise you'll end up slowing your bird down. Also there is a left handed option so the time of day indicator goes to the bottom right, instead of the bottom left. The visuals in the game itself aren't the latest in cutting edge 3D graphics like the new Tintin movie but they compliment the games overall feel and moreover are extremely eyecatching. Add a nice little song in the background (which is a free download from the developers website). Then that gives you a need for some serious belly burning speed down the slopes. When all is said and done, Tiny Wings is a nice warm game that anyone can play, man, woman or child. I simply bought this for something to do as Genius recommended it and I haven't put it down since. And with a Tiny Winged price tag of 69p or $0.99 you will hardly break the bank, If you're anything like me you will be trying to beat your high score over and over again. Tell me your Tiny Wings highscores, see what I'm currently playing or tell me what you'd like to see reviewed before you purchase the game, on Twitter (@AaronGerrity) or in the comments section below.
