Jagged Alliance: 5 Things That Could Fix The Series

4. A Full Cast

Jagged Alliance Rage
Cliffhanger Productions

Speaking of the large roster of characters, the latest game, Rage, only has a roster of eight to choose from. That's way down from 40 in JA2, which Rage is supposed to be a direct sequel to. On top of that, you only get to select two of them at a time.

Rage has the neat motif that these are eight broken people doing what they have to in order to survive – and this gives the characters some of that much needed personality missing from earlier attempts. But it reads like a television script, rather than a game.

Let us work alongside a diverse cast of nutjobs in morally ambiguous mission parameters. Maybe we want to stand side-by-side with a Russian-hating Schwarzenegger impressionist and a Quebecois-spouting tinder aficionado? Maybe we want to team up with the LAPD Swat duo or listen to a machine-gun toting femme fatale talk about how bad in bed one of her teammates is.

Or maybe, just maybe...we all just miss being called Woody.
