Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Developer Sued For ''Vilifying'' Chinese People
Two years after its release, a Chinese lawyer has decided to sue the developers of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days for allegedly ''vilifying'' the Chinese people.
Global Times, Liu Lin is suing the game's developer, IO Interactive, and its publisher Square Enix, for 10,000 yuan (£985) in damages. Liu Lin, a lawyer from Beijing Shuangli Law Firm is upset about the way Chinese people were portrayed in the game. He said;
"I can't bear it, especially the vicious vilifying of our people. They must be taught a lesson." "As a Chinese lawyer, I have the obligation to protect the rights of all Chinese. My worry is not whether I can win the case but whether the court will put it on record."Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a third person shooter set in Shanghai. It was developed by Denmark-based, Hitman developer IO Interactive and released in 2010. It received a mixed reaction from critics but most praised its audio and visual style. The game sold 950,000 copies worldwide. The case is not expected to get very far but that doesn't bother Lin who added;
"My worry is not whether I can win the case but whether the court will put it on record,"China is seen as the next big market for video game developers.
