Square Enix’s long-awaited conclusion to its beloved action-RPG trilogy is so satisfying in its gameplay evolutions that it makes me feel like a kid again, even if its story resolutions don’t think far outside the toy box. - IGN

Kingdom Hearts III finally takes the next major step in that journey, giving fans what we’ve been waiting for: resolution. The new installment addresses threads that have been left hanging for years, and it does so by leveraging the Disney magic that seems to make anything possible. It's not much of a surprise that KH3 is designed with the hardcore fans in mind above all others, and to that end the game is more often than not an extremely gratifying experience for them.

With a firmly nostalgic tone while also introducing a number of new and advanced gameplay systems, it sounds like the game strikes a firm balance between playing the hits and refining the formula just enough that it doesn't feel like a cynical rehash.

Several reviews did note that the game is a bit of a tougher sell for those new to the series, if only because the impenetrable story might be somewhat offputting.
