Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have today announced that the LEGO game version of the final books and films about the Boy Who Lived has come to life to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch thanks to the iOS release of the LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 App, which is available now on the App Store. As with the console and PS Vita versions, the game transports players into the wizarding world to experience the epic finale of the highly successful LEGO Harry Potter video game series, with hours of immersive gameplay and a unique interface created exclusively for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Here’s the official skinny:
The LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 unites the creative LEGO prowess with the expansive world of Harry Potter to deliver exciting and rewarding gameplay that features exploration, spell-casting, duelling and much more for players of all ages. Based on the final three books and final four films – Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – the game allows players to experience Harry’s last years at Hogwarts and battle Lord Voldemort in the ultimate fight of good against evil.
Players will follow Harry’s heroic endeavours and encounter new faces, new challenges, and new spells as they explore iconic settings including Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, Godric’s Hollow, Diagon Alley and Hogwarts. Fans can touch the screen to cast spells and target objects; use the interactive display to change characters and spells; and recreate legendary duels by casting and deflecting spells with their fingertips. The game also offers a Duelling Club expansion, which allows players to master advanced duelling skills against a host of famous witches and wizards including Professor Snape, Lord Voldemort and many others.
It is actually a seriously good fun game – you can read my full review of it here or follow all of our coverage here – and one which hides a developmental depth that is usually missing from such “casual-friendly” gaming experiences. And now the opportunity to play it while commuting/using the toilet (be honest!) means that gameplay experience can follow you beyond the confines of your gaming chair.
Developed by TT Games, the LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 App is available now on the App Store for £2.99 or on www.itunes.com/appstore.
