Life Is Strange: Before The Storm Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs

8. Intrusive Loading Screens

You better hope you really like Before the Storm's loading screen, because fair warning: you're going to be seeing it a lot ,and you're going to be seeing it a times that feel completely unnecessary.

Just about every single time you change locations or finish a cutscene, you have to sit through a loading screen. In fact, there's at least one point where there is a loading screen sandwiched between two separate cutscenes, in lieu of a more seamless transition to keep you immersed in the story. (Hence, feeling unnecessary and intrusive.)

What's more is that while a lot of the loading screens end relatively quickly, there are also some that definitely drag. The reason this can get annoying is because the game, by design, isn't anything graphically astounding. So, long loading screens feel a bit disproportionate. This isn't a deal-breaker by any stretch, but definitely something Deck Nine should work on improving going forward.

In any case, time to move on to the ups.
