LOTR Guardians of Middle Earth: First Explosive Gameplay Trailer

First footage from the upcoming fantasy MOBA has us more than a little excited.

It's fair to say certain Lord of the Rings games didn't exactly live up to fan expectations or hopes, and it is an indication of how readily the material lends itself to game adaptations that developers haven't yet given up on making that elusive classic. All signs are good for the upcoming MOBA title Guardians of Middle Earth, since that genre - made famous by DoTA of course - offers the right sort of scale to really celebrate Tolkien's Middle-Earth. It will also allow players to face off in large and impressive looking battle set-pieces and skirmishes, if the first gameplay video is anything to go by. What else looks certain is that the game - which has been in development from Monolith, and will presumably feature some clever controls to make the transition to consoles smoother - will look damn fine too... http://youtu.be/caYW7d-8MIY And the best thing? Well, for me, it's the inclusion of Gollum as a playable character. Not so sure about teaming him up against any of the more powerful characters, but his finger biting skills are legendary. Here's the official synopsis for the game: A shadow grows over Middle-earth as the greatest armies of the Third Age prepare for the coming battle. Take up arms in the clash over Middle-earth with the most powerful heroes from the greatest fantasy epic of all time. Form memorable and unlikely alliances with and against friends as the wildly popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena genre comes to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
