Max Payne 3 Gets Fast-Paced Arcade Modes

Rockstar is adding two additional single-player game modes. Fast-paced and chaotic, expect a rush like no other.

Max Payne 3 hits stores next week, players will blast through the story with a hunger for the action. Now, that does not mean the game will be short or inferior, only that loyal fans of the series have been waiting nearly a decade for their next taste of Max's bullet ridden life. Rockstar Games has specifically created two arcade modes catering to the rush that many fans may crave as they shoot dodge their way through countless enemies. Here is the breakdown of what you can expect from both Score Attack and New York Minute.Score Attack Score attack unlocks for any single-player level after you have decimated any foes standing in your way to the finish. This mode sees gamers shooting for the highest score possible by acquiring points and multipliers with each shot tearing through the thugs surrounding you. Precision shots net you far greater points, while implementing some destruction in your kills will net you even greater points. One of the best ways to score points in Score Attack is to use every ability in Max's arsenal. Shoot-dodging, Bullet Time, hit streaks, and shooting while prone will all increase your multiplier. This mode is definitely a reason to keep coming back. New York Minute Fans of the original Max Payne will be all too familiar with this frantic, intense, sweat-inducing mode. Players will be able to unlock this mode after completing the entire single-player story. New York Minute returns from the first title bigger and better than ever, starting the player with a meager 60 seconds on the clock which forces you into an intense race to the finish. The only way to make it to the end is embedding a bullet into the skulls of every thug you meet, as time is added to the clock with each kill. New York Minute is definitely a mode for the thrill seeker. Not only will these game modes be an additional bonus to the already appealing single-player and multiplayer components of Max Payne 3, but completing these modes will grant you rewards as well. After completing both modes the game rewards you with a summary screen. It looks a little something like this, Points are awarded after you complete each mission. Players will be rewarded with either a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medal. Once you have claimed multiple platinum medals you will earn the chance to unlock exclusive avatars such as, Fabiana Branco and Passos, for use in Multiplayer Deathmatch. In addition to the opportunity of unlocking avatars, you are inevitably bound to unlock an astounding amount of XP. If that is not enough, perhaps the notion of stats that accumulate your totals and determine a ranking, that can be compared to the skill of the entire Max Payne 3 community.
