While we're still recovering of the incredible announcement that was the revelation that
Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will be two different games, we're now receiving new info on this beloved saga. But this info isn't about the two games mentioned before, it is about a new collection that (apparently) will include EVERY SINGLE METAL GEAR RELEASED SO FAR. A couple of days ago, Hideo Kojima tweeted the following picture that showed every single Snake in the main games of the saga so far (Solid Snake from Metal Gear 1 & 2, Naked Snake from Snake Eater and Peace Walker, and finally Old Snake). Aside from that, it didn't get as much attention as some of his other tweets.
We thought it was some cool fan-art or some poster he was going to release for when Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain come out, however the
Korean Game Rating Board posted an entry on a game called "Metal Gear Solid The Legendary Collection" for the PS3, and suddenly this all makes sense now. Could this picture be the game's cover? Or just some promotional poster? Or maybe it's nothing important at all and we're just making a fuzz about something that didn't even mattered in the first place? While we don't have much info on this so far, we do know that Kojima has been working on several projects associated with Metal Gear aside from the new games, and let's not forget that in the HD Collection the first Metal Gear was absent, as well as Metal Gear Solid 4. So releasing a new collection that includes all those games would make sense, don't you think? The only one that's still missing would be Portable OPS. If this information is true, and we're getting a new Metal Gear Collection that includes all the main games in the series, then this would be one of the greatest news we could get in recent days. There are a couple of questions that remain, though. First of all, if the new Metal Gear games will be released both on Xbox 360 as well as PS3 (this has been confirmed already) is this collection going to be released for both consoles as well? Or just for the PS3? My guess is that it's going to be released on both, since if they're going to release new games between this year and the next, it would make sense to release an even bigger collection that includes 2 games that were missing on the previous one. Second, if you pay attention you'll notice that one Snake looks a little bit different that the others, I guess that he's the Snake from the first Metal Gear Solid, so the question is: Are they going to do a remastering of the first game so it has now the graphics of the rest of the games in the series? Or they're going to leave it just as it is? Or maybe they're going to use The Twin Snakes instead of remastering the first game all over again? While we don't know much about this project, it seems likely that we might see some news on this very soon, so stay tuned.
