Metal Gear Solid V: 10 Things The Phantom Pain Needs

9. Don't Lose The Cinematic Approach

Metal Gear Solid 4 Another question mark is the suggestion that MGSV's open-world gameplay will result in a less cinematic experience overall, with the series' famed cut-scenes taking a back seat. The phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" really holds true here; the MGS games are famed for their lengthy cut-scenes that tend to outweigh the amount of gameplay, and this is an approach that fans appreciate. Kojima's immensely in-depth stories are enormously captivating, and one can't help but think that if this is toned down, it will, along with Hayter's absence, lose the essence of what made the franchise so successful in the first place. While there's no doubt from what we've seen already that the game looks visually fantastic, if the cut-scenes are only sparsely placed throughout, it will be a huge disappointment to those who rely on MGS to deliver a dense, multi-faceted story with character development virtually unparalleled in the industry.
