MODERN WARFARE 3's Equivalent To Controversial 'No Russian' Level Leaked

There will be an option to skip this sequences in-game, but Activision should brace themselves for some serious media fallout.

Few people will forget the shock of slaughtering an airport full of civilians in Modern Warfare 2; no doubt one of the most controversial game sequences of all time. Controversy sells cash however, and it's unsurprising that Activision have an equivalent level in the upcoming Modern Warfare 3. A leaked video from the game shows a father recording his daughter on a home video-camera, when a van pulls up next to them and blows up, tearing the happy family to shreds and releasing some kind of noxious gas. You can watch this sequence below (Editor's Note: Video has now been taken down from Youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6VbeJ10FFg There will be an option to skip this sequences in-game, but Activision should brace themselves for some serious media fallout. It's hard to shake the thought however, that this is merely capitalising on its own controversy. While the airport sequence in Modern Warfare 2 was shocking because it was something that hadn't been done in games before, blowing up children seems like a bit of a spin-off from it. Are Activision resorting to cheap shocks to increase the game's publicity? Or is such a sequence essential to the story the game is trying to tell? We'll find out soon enough.
