Nintendo Switch: 10 Awesome Games With Overdue Sequels

9. Project Octopath Traveller

Splatoon 3
Square Enix

The unique 2.5D role-playing game from Square Enix evoked old-school Final Fantasy and it brought us a brand new franchise that is begging to be continued.

Funnily enough, long after Project Octopath Traveller was revealed, many assumed the name would be changed and it may in fact end-up as a Final Fantasy spin-off. Well, Square Enix being incredibly Square Enix decided to keep the ridiculous name but it didn't matter because the game was excellent.

Octopath Traveller was most notable for it's gorgeous art-style but it also had an innovative battle system, great party system, and tons of content. The game was well-received by critics and sold around 2 million copies, so it should come as no surprise that a sequel is possibly in the works.

Square Enix announced that a mobile prequel was in development but also said another game was entering production. We can only assume that second game is a full-blown sequel and that gets us all giddy inside. Imagine a brand new world that has the same art-style but more colourful, more unique characters, and more refined gameplay. It's an exciting prospect, though it's probably going to be called Project Octopath Two/Four Fifths Travelling West Into Dreams.
