Overwatch: 25 Best Skins You Must Unlock

Mercy might be a fan-favourite, but does she have the finest threads?

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Overwatch – besides the addictive gameplay – is the ability to dress your favourite character in all kinds of wacky and weird costumes. As well as providing incentive for you to keep earning (or purchasing) loot boxes, the skins allow players to customise their character in ways which best express their personality. When mixed with the various different sprays, emotes and voice lines there are almost limitless combinations, ensuring that each player has a unique experience.

The game itself contains surprisingly little lore, preferring to tell the Overwatch story through companion comics and cinematic shorts. This means that, for some players, skins will be the only way they learn more about the wider context of the game’s narrative. These skins provide a window into the hero’s past adventures or shed some light on the murky history of the mysterious Omnic Crisis.

Other skins offer nothing more than making your character look extremely bad ass, but there are few better feelings than getting Play of the Game and being able to show off your limited edition Legendary skin.

With so many brilliant skins to choose from, all you have to do now is earn enough coins to be able to afford them all…

25. Zenyatta – Nutcracker

Zenyetta is one of Overwatch’s most interesting characters, being a robotic monk who spouts existential platitudes whilst ripping the other team to shreds with his debuff ability. Despite his zen-demeanour and lack of facial expressions, Zenyetta is surprisingly charismatic, which is why his Nutcracker skin is so disturbing.

Whilst most of the Winter event unlockables were full of festive joy, Nutcracker came with an edge of uncanny darkness, transforming Zenyatta into an unblinking toy soldier which seems to look into your soul. Turning his Orbs of Destruction into actual nuts was a masterstroke, although this does little to make up for the unspeakable horror of the rest of the skin.

Even the recently released Cultist skin, which transforms the character into a Cthulu-inspired eldritch abomination, pales in comparison to the dead-eyed stare of Nutcracker.

Elsewhere, Zenyatta’s Sanzang skin (often called Sexy Zenyatta) is glossy and gorgeous, whilst his epic skins are amongst the game’s best. Still, it’s already intimidating enough having a Zenyatta on the opposing team, he certainly doesn’t need the creepy genius of Nutcracker to make him more terrifying.
