Sony became the first console manufacturer to launch its own virtual reality headset when it rolled out PlayStation VR last year and bolstered its ambitions on this front with the release of the PS4 Pro.
The iterative console upped the level of immersion with improved framerates, but Sony's headset still operates at a lower resolution than the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
As virtual reality continues its charge into the mainstream and PlayStation VR's sales figures remain on track, it makes sense for the PS5 to embrace the technology more extensively, and perhaps launch alongside a next-gen headset which levels the playing field on the Rift and the Vive.
Indeed, Tech Radar believes that improved VR capabilities and a new wireless VR headset could be key selling points for the next PlayStation.
