Pokemon: 5 Pokefacts You Probably Didn't Know

4. Pokemon Helped Nintendo Get Back to Its Roots

url-2 I am sure we all recognize this image: that classic "back" of a Pokemon Trading card, a game so confusing that the standard child just decides that their Charizard wins because their parents paid over $100 for it on eBay and no one disagrees. While one thing you may not have known is that while Nintendo wanted Pokemon because of all the boatloads of money it was sure to bring in (they brought the rights in 2001 so they now are the publishers while GameFreak is the creator), but also because they held a special place in their heart: Nintendo wanted to have a connection to their roots of being a trading card company. While you might see this as more of a Nintendo secret, that is only because Pokemon made it so, so every time you buy a copy of Pokemon remember that you are helping Nintendo keep a hold on their roots.
