Rainbow Six Siege Beta: 10 Big Things You Need To Know

Team Rainbow's back for the newest generation, but is it the game fans have been asking for?

The Rainbow Six beta is only a few days into its release and already it's drawing a lot of contention from within the fanbase. Whilst almost certainly a return to form for the franchise, long loved gameplay aspects from previous entries have been omitted from the pseudo-reboot, and not entirely to the benefit of the package being offered. For those unfamiliar with Rainbow Six, Siege provides a welcome entry to the series. The learning curve is as steep as ever for those who've rarely ventured outside of Call of Duty and its ilk, but the more cautionary gameplay style is bound to resonate with gamers left unfazed by the typical annual FPS offerings of the past five years - just make sure you have a competent bunch of squad mates to take along with you. No beta is without its faults however, and Siege's has shown just why its launch was met with delay. How it fairs in a hostile climate dominated by big heavyweights like Battlefront and Call of Duty remains to be seen, but it's encouraging to see that Ubisoft are at least learning from their past mistakes and aren't going to ship a product riddled with errors and bugs for their fans to have to slug their way through. Overall Siege's beta has left many with mixed minds, but it's not something that lacks promise. Indeed, players with a keen eye for authentic military shooters should be giving this particular title more attention than they may have thought it was worth.
