Ranking Every 3D Super Mario Game From Worst To Best

6. Super Mario 3D Land

With the unique concept of 2D level designs in a 3D format, Super Mario 3D Land managed to stand out from the crowd of New Super Mario Bros. games that plagued Nintendo for so many years. Unlike Super Mario 3D World, 3D Land feels much more comfortable with the bite-sized nature and creative level design.

While the majority of the game is almost too easy, it makes up for it with creativity and solid level design. At the end of the day, the incredibly fair difficulty isn't going to dissuade players from having a great time. Besides, the fact that 3D Land is so easy actually suits the pick-up put-down nature of handheld gaming perfectly.

Despite being perfect for what it is, both 3D Land and World have impenetrable roofs above their heads in comparison to the other entries on this list. The "true 3D" games boast a degree of inventiveness that surpasses anything their pseudo 3D cousins can offer. Super Mario 3D Land is a fantastic game, but it doesn't hold a candle to the top five.
