That's right. You can't get anything past me, Mario! Just before he made it big time, Mario experimented with his style slightly. In the original arcade game, Mario Bros the iconic character sported a blue cap, with the rest of his costume staying unchanged. It's also worth noting that in the arcade games Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior, as well as the box art for the NES games Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 Mario is seen wearing red overalls! He finally made the change to those snazzy denim overalls to look extra-cool on the box of the original Gameboy's 1989 Super Mario Land. It has proven to be quite a long-term decision as well, with the character sticking with the look for the past 24 years - only changing when he fancies becoming a Doctor.
